Ukrainian high jump sensation Yaroslava Mahuchikh has continued her sparkling form on the Diamond League circuit, claiming her tenth consecutive win with an impressive 1.97-meter clearance in Shanghai.

The reigning world record holder opened her 2025 season in style, edging out a competitive field that included Australia’s world indoor champion Nicola Olyslagers and former world champion Eleanor Patterson. Olyslagers secured second place with a height of 1.95 meters, while Patterson settled for third, also clearing 1.95 meters.

Mahuchikh, who remains one of the most dominant forces in women’s high jump, made a bold attempt to surpass the meet record by aiming for 2.03 meters. Despite falling short on all three tries, her victory further cements her status at the top of the sport.

Fellow Ukrainian Yuliya Levchenko also delivered a solid performance, finishing fourth with her best result of the season.

The triumph adds to Mahuchikh’s growing list of accolades. Just last season, she made history at the Paris Diamond League by breaking a 36-year-old world record, clearing 2.10 meters to surpass Stefka Kostadinova’s legendary 2.09-meter mark from 1987. The milestone earned her widespread recognition, including the prestigious Europe’s Women’s Athlete of the Year award at the 2024 European Athletics Golden Tracks Awards.

As the 2025 season unfolds, all eyes remain on Mahuchikh, who continues to push the boundaries of the high jump discipline.

With her Shanghai win, Mahuchikh has set the tone for another spectacular season. Fans will be eager to see if she can maintain her unbeaten streak and possibly challenge her own world record in upcoming competitions
