Valarie Allman Stretches Unbeaten Run with Impressive Shanghai Diamond League Triumph

USA’s Valarie Allman continues to capture the world’s attention as she clinched another impressive victory in the women’s discus throw  at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Shanghai.

The 28-year-old athlete delivered her winning throw in the fifth round, recording a massive distance of 70.08 meters. Allman’s ability to repeatedly breach the 70-meter mark places her in elite company, and her form this season suggests she’s on course for even greater heights as the athletics calendar progresses.

Hot on her heels in Shanghai was Netherlands’ Jorinde Van Klinken, who secured second place with an impressive season-best effort of 66.09 meters. The 24-year-old Dutch athlete, known for her explosive power and rising profile in the field events, proved a worthy contender in the star-studded lineup. .

Meanwhile, Cuba’s Yaime Pérez, the 2019 World Champion, claimed the third podium spot with a solid throw of 65.00 meters.

 Allman dominated the 1st leg of Diamond League in Xiamen with a huge third-round discus throw of 68.95 meters.

Valarie Allman’s rise to the pinnacle of women’s discus has been nothing short of inspiring. Since her Olympic triumph in Tokyo, where she clinched gold with a throw of 68.98 meters, Allman has continued to push the boundaries of her discipline.

In 2021, she etched her name into American athletics history books by setting a national record of 71.16 meters in Berlin, a mark that remains the second-longest throw recorded globally in the past three decades.
