Nike and Box To Box Films will debut an electrifying documentary about Faith Kipyegon’s historic sub-four-minute mile attempt.
Titled Breaking4: Faith Kipyegon vs. the 4-Minute Mile, the immersive limited-series documentary captures the Kenyan middle-distance icon as she prepares to chase a feat that has eluded even the world’s best female runners.
The first 50-minute episode of the two-part series will premiere June 20 on Prime Video, with the second episode slated for release in July.
A Monumental Sporting Moment

Faith Kipyegon, a two-time Olympic champion and the current world record holder in both the 1,500 meters and the mile, is attempting to push the boundaries of what’s possible in women’s middle-distance running.
To break the four-minute mile barrier, she must slice at least 7.65 seconds off her personal best of 4:07.64, a staggering challenge, given the historic significance of the milestone first surpassed by Roger Bannister nearly 70 years ago.
For Kipyegon, the attempt is more than just a record chase. It’s a statement of belief, ambition, and legacy. She has cemented her place among history’s greatest athletes, but this challenge pushes her to redefine limits and inspire future generations.
Documenting the Journey
Breaking4: Faith Kipyegon vs. the 4-Minute Mile offers an intimate look at Kipyegon’s meticulous preparation through exclusive interviews, behind-the-scenes training footage, and insights from her inner circle.
The documentary also illustrates how Nike, her longtime partner of 16 years, is harnessing its cutting-edge innovation, coaching expertise, and athlete support systems to help Kipyegon realize her dream.
Produced by Box To Box Films, the creators behind hit sports documentaries like Formula 1: Drive to Survive and Sprint, the series promises a gripping narrative about grit, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of greatness. The documentary will be available in 11 languages across all territories where Prime Video operates.
