Just when it seemed like Mondo Duplantis had reached the ceiling of human potential, he shattered expectations yet again. On a memorable evening in Stockholm’s historic Olympic Stadium on June 15th, the pole vault maestro cleared a staggering 6.28m on his very first attempt, setting a new world record for the 12th time.
As the bar shook and the home crowd erupted, Duplantis roared, ripped off his singlet, and raced toward his support team in pure euphoria. The was about legacy.
And yet, for Mondo, the job isn’t finished.
“I’m going to keep pushing forward like always, to jump higher. I’m just going to enjoy this, enjoy the moment right now. There’s not much between me and 6.30, technically. It’s just a few centimeters. I’m just a perfect day away from it,” he said in a post race interview.
The 24-year-old Swede believes the landmark 6.30m isn’t a matter of if, but when. Still, even as he teases new heights, Duplantis has his eyes on more than just athletics.
The Many Lives of Mondo
In a surprise admission just hours after his record-breaking feat, Mondo revealed a side project few saw coming.
“I’m going to release a song in two weeks,” he announced.
“It has nothing to do with setting the world record right now, it just happens to be that way.”
This isn’t unfamiliar territory for Duplantis. Earlier this year, his debut track “Bop”, featuring the viral line “When you drop it like that, it’s a bop”, climbed to #31 on the Swedish singles chart. Now, his follow-up single “4L” (short for “For Life”), a romantic track, according to Mondo, is set for release, adding musician to his already loaded résumé.
But that’s only a fraction of what defines the modern Duplantis brand.
A certified global sports icon, Mondo has graced the front rows of fashion shows for Dior and Tommy Hilfiger, walked Coachella alongside his fiancée Desire Inglander, and headlined campaigns for Puma, Red Bull, Omega, and more. His face is a fixture in European advertising, from high-end shirts with Eton to dental campaigns for Aqua Dental.
Away from the limelight, Duplantis also dedicates time to philanthropy. As an ambassador for the Wings for Life World Run, he supports spinal cord research, and in a playful moment of athletic crossover in 2024, he even out-sprinted 400m hurdles star Karsten Warholm in a 100m dash, clocking a sharp 10.37 seconds.
A World Champion in Every Sense

The accolades haven’t slowed either. In April 2025, Duplantis was crowned Laureus World Sportsman of the Year, becoming only the second track athlete, and the first-ever field athlete, to claim the honor, joining the likes of Usain Bolt.
He also dominated Sweden’s Idrottsgalan Awards, scooping Male Athlete of the Year among other accolades.
With Tokyo 2025 World Championships looming, Mondo’s focus is chasing history and personal expression in every arena he steps into.
