Kenya’s track and field heavyweights are ready to ignite the track at the 2025 Rabat Diamond League, set for Saturday, May 25 in Morocco.

The event, part of the prestigious Diamond League series, promises sizzling action—and the Kenyan contingent is poised to steal the show.

Ferdinand Omanyala, Africa’s fastest man, headlines the men’s 100m and arrives in Rabat in red-hot form. Just last weekend, Omanyala sent shockwaves through the athletics world. He smashed his own African 150m record at the Adidas Atlanta City Games in Georgia, USA. Dubbed “The Beast from the East,” the Friends School Kamusinga alumnus reminded the world of his sprinting pedigree with a blistering run that left critics silenced.

As the spotlight shifts to Rabat, Omanyala will be out to prove that he’s not just back—but better than ever. Fans and analysts alike are buzzing with anticipation, expecting a blockbuster performance from the Kenyan sprint king.

Joining him on the Rabat track is Emmanuel Wanyonyi, the 20-year-old 800m sensation. Making his 2025 Diamond League debut. Wanyonyi enters the season with momentum after a strong showing at the Kingston Grand Slam in Jamaica. With eyes on the World Championships later this year. The former World U20 champion will be looking to stamp his authority early.

Chebet to lit up women`s 3000m

In the women’s 3000m, Beatrice Chebet lines up as a heavy favorite. The double Olympic Champion  and current 10000m world record holder remains unbeaten this season. Her recent triumph in Xiamen—where she unleashed a devastating final-lap kick to defeat Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay—was a masterclass in tactical racing.

The Rabat leg will be Chebet’s second major appearance of the year. She will head to the Prefontaine Classic, where she’ll clash again with Tsegay and the in-form Medina Eisa in the 10000m showdown.

Also flying the Kenyan flag high will be Edmund Serem, the reigning World U20 champion in the men’s 3000m steeplechase. Serem will be looking to establish himself among the senior elite in one of Kenya’s most decorated disciplines.

The Rabat stop brings together a star-studded field from across the globe. Headlining the international cast are Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo. Dutch hurdling sensation Femke Bol, and Jamaican sprint queen Shericka Jackson in the women’s 200m. The men’s 200m will be a must-watch battle featuring Olympic champion Tebogo, South Africa’s Akani Simbine, and world indoor champion Jeremiah Azu.

This year’s Rabat Diamond League comes just days after the Doha leg. The Doha show lit up the Suheim bin Hamad Stadium on May 16. Now, all eyes turn to Morocco. As the world’s best athletes descend for what promises to be a thrilling spectacle of speed, strategy, and pure heart.
