Reigning Olympic high jump champion Hamish Kerr has revealed he is a dedicated gamer who travels the world with his PS5 in tow.
Speaking during a press conference ahead of the Wanda Diamond League meet in Rome, Hamish Kerr shared insights into how he unwinds while on tour.
“I travel all the time with my PS5. I’m a gamer. Right now, I’m replaying the GTA V campaign just in solidarity, waiting for GTA VI to come out. It might be the next 10 years before it drops, so we’ll see what happens next, yeah.”
For those unfamiliar, Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) is an open-world action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar Games. It has been one of the most popular and influential games since its release in 2013. It offers players the freedom to explore a vast city, complete missions, and create their own chaotic stories. The game has a huge global following and remains popular years later. Thanks to its engaging gameplay and the online multiplayer mode, GTA Online.
Kerr’s enthusiasm for GTA V is a reminder that even world-class athletes find comfort and entertainment in gaming. This comes during their downtime, bored or even leisure.

But gaming isn’t his only passion outside athletics. When at home, Kerr enjoys spending time outdoors, especially playing golf.
“When I’m home, I love just getting out in the outdoors and playing golf and other things. I don’t get as much golf as I’d like on tour, obviously, since I don’t travel with my clubs, but that’s something I look forward to when I get back,” he explained.
On his golfing ability, Kerr was refreshingly honest.
“I’m terrible, mate. I’m like mid-80s at best. That’s way better than me if I golfed 90s, that’d be a perfect day! I’ve had one day where I went one under part. That’s a birdie or a bogey? Something like that. That’s probably the only time in my entire golfing career,” he joked.
