American sprint hurdler Grant Holloway is set to return to action this Friday at the Paris Diamond League, marking his first race since April.
The reigning Olympic and world champion will be looking to bounce back from a rocky outdoor season so far in 2025. Holloway’s results this year include a win and a runner-up finish in Gainesville, but a disappointing 10th-place showing in Xiamen raised eyebrows.
He later withdrew from races in Shanghai and Atlanta City, reportedly due to injury. With the World Championships just three months away, Paris offers him a key chance to rebuild momentum.

Stacked Field
Standing in Holloway’s way are some familiar American rivals. Freddie Crittenden, who joined Holloway on the U.S. Olympic team, remains a strong and consistent performer.
Jamal Britt, won at the final Grand Slam meet in Philadelphia, is quickly emerging as a serious contender. Britt won both the hurdles event and the overall series title there, beating Crittenden and Trey Cunningham, who finished third.
Cunningham, the 2022 world silver medalist, has had a quieter 2025 season so far but still poses a threat. The American trio will be keen to test Holloway’s form ahead of the U.S. Trials.
France will also field a strong home squad, led by Wilhem Belocian, Just Kwaou-Mathey, Aurel Manga, and Erwann Cinna. Belocian earned silver behind Holloway at the 2025 World Indoor Championships, while Kwaou-Mathey claimed bronze indoors in 2024.
Manga, the experienced veteran, brings a 2018 world medal to the table, and Cinna, the youngest of the group, is the 2023 European U23 bronze medalist.
