Great Britain’s sprint star Dina Asher-Smith delivered a season-best performance at the Stockholm Diamond League on June 15, 2025, clocking 10.93 seconds in the women’s 100m.
Although she finished second behind St. Lucia’s Julien Alfred, the race marked a significant technical breakthrough for the former world champion.
Just days earlier, Dina Asher-Smith had finished in 11.08 in Oslo. A race she later described as “messy” due to issues with her transition phases. In Stockholm, she responded with a sharper start, smoother switches, and more aggressive drive through the finish.
“We cleaned things up,” she said post-race. “The start was a lot snappier, and I finished ahead of everyone else except Julien. I’m happy with how quickly we turned things around.”
The quick improvement, shaving 0.15 seconds in less than a week, highlighted Asher-Smith’s technical focus and her ability to respond to feedback under pressure.

“I’ve been in incredible shape but just needed to get a few things right,” she explained. “You saw that today. There’s still more to improve, but that’s part of the season.”
A Different Build-Up in 2025
Unlike in previous years, Asher-Smith has approached 2025 with a broader training range. In April, she ran a 400m in Kingston, clocking 52.15, followed by a 22.96 in the 200m.
“It’s just been fun to do something else,” she said. “I’ve never really raced over 400m before, but it’s helped with race sharpness and strength.”
She added that fans are seeing more of her development this season because she’s racing more publicly, rather than doing all her prep behind the scenes.
Dina Asher-Smith is no stranger to major moments. She won 200m gold at the 2019 World Championships, holds a personal best of 10.83 seconds in the 100m, and has claimed Olympic medals in the 4x100m relay. Her return to sharp form in 2025 is a clear signal that she’s building toward another big championship season.
