Diamond League Stockholm: Olyslagers Ends Mahuchikh’s Unbeaten Run in High Jump

Australia’s Nicola Olyslagers stunned the field with a 2.01m clearance to claim victory in the women’s high jump, handing Ukraine’s Yaroslava Mahuchikh her first Diamond League defeat of the season.

Mahuchikh, who had been flawless in previous meets, cleared 2.01m on her second attempt but failed to go higher, missing all three tries at 2.03m. With the bar raised for a dramatic finale, Mahuchikh couldn’t replicate her usual magic, leaving Olyslagers to celebrate a statement win.

Yaroslava Mahuchikh, the 2024 Olympic champion and world record holder unbeaten run included victories in Doha and also in Rabat.

Poland’s Maria Zodzika who claimed third with a season-best 1.93m, while a deep field saw six athletes tie for fourth at 1.91m, including Australia’s Eleanor Patterson, the 2022 world champion.

The competition highlighted Australia’s high jump prowess, with Olyslagers, a 2024 Olympic silver medalist, and Patterson reinforcing their nation’s legacy in the event.

Olyslagers earned 8 Diamond League points, boosting her chances, while Mahuchikh’s 7 points keep her atop the season standings.
