Emmanuel Wanyonyi entered the Oslo meet seeking redemption after a rare defeat in Rabat, where he finished third behind Botswana’s Tshepiso Masalela and Britain’s Max Burgin.

Determined to bounce back, the Olympic and Diamond League champion faced a stacked field that included Sedjati, the Olympic silver medallist, and Attaoui, one of Europe’s rising stars.

Wanyonyi responded with a decisive kick down the home straight, fending off both challengers to secure the win and post the fastest time of his season so far.
