American Sprinter Chris Bailey has set his sights on the upcoming outdoor season, where he aims to compete with the world’s elite runners.

Chris Bailey led a historic 1-2-3 finish for the United States in the men’s 400m final at the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing on Saturday.

The U.S. sweep in Nanjing was a historic moment for American athletics, Chris Bailey clocked 45.08 with Faust equaling his personal best of 45.47 seconds for silver and Patterson finishing in 45.54 seconds for bronze.

This marked only the second time in championship history that a single nation swept an individual podium, a feat last achieved by Ethiopia’s women in 2022.

“I’m just blessed to be able to claim this position, I know there’s a lot more to work on going into the outdoor season,” he said in an interview with letsrun.com.

“We’ve been racing each other since college, and we’re familiar with each other. It’s just a matter of being mentally tough. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy for any of us, and anybody could have won the race,” he added.

Chris Bailey’s performance in Nanjing is a testament to his growth as an athlete, having finished sixth in the 400m final at the Paris Olympics .

His 2025 benchmark time of 44.70 seconds earlier this year and his victory at the US Indoors underscored his potential to dominate on the global stage.

“I’m very excited to see the Olympic finalists and top three in the competition, I’m looking forward to the Grand Slam Track events.”
