Britain’s Molly Caudery made an emphatic start to her 2025 outdoor campaign, claiming victory in the women’s pole vault at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Doha on Friday, May 16.
The 25-year-old British record holder was the only athlete to clear 4.75m,She mastered challenging windy conditions at the Qatar Sports Club to take the win ahead of Italy’s Roberta Bruni and the USA’s reigning world champion Katie Moon. They both managed a best clearance of 4.63m to share second place.
Molly Caudery, the 2024 world indoor champion, showed grit and composure.Despite a swirling wind that disrupted many of her competitors. Her performance was not only technically strong but also a psychological statement at the start of the new season.
“I absolutely have a lot of fire in me and that’s a good thing ahead of the new season,” Caudery said after the event. “I had a lot of fun tonight.”

Reflecting on her return to outdoor competition, she added: “I was very excited for this comeback. There’s a lot less pressure in the first competition of the year. I need to settle my vault—and it went well. The weather conditions didn’t make things easy—there was some wind, then it stopped—but I managed to navigate it.”
Caudery also revealed she had battled through injuries in recent months, saying, “After recovering and getting back to training I had a couple more injuries. I’m now getting back to where I want to be. Trying to work on consistency. I’m training hard, and that fire in me will help me get where I want this season.”
Her winning mark of 4.75m stood out as the highlight of the evening .In an event where rhythm and technique were heavily tested by the conditions. With her Doha victory, Caudery hasn`t set a strong tone for the rest of the Diamond League season . She also reaffirms her status as one of the top contenders in global pole vaulting.
