Italian Andy Diaz almost fulfilled his aspiration to break Teddy Tamgho 17.90 m, 2010 Indoor World Championship record as he grabbed the first gold medal medal in men’s Triple Jump at the ongoing World Indoor Championship held in Nanjing, China.
Diaz leaped to an impressive 17.80m jump leaving in his wake Zhu Yaming of China to settle for the silver, with a commendable 17.33m jump while Almor Dos Santos ran away with bronze with a17.22m leap.
It is a sport that has seen new stars emerge, as defending Champion Hugues Fabrice Zango failed to out-maneuver his rivals, thus settling just outside the podium in fourth position with Jamaica’s Jordan Scott trailing in 5th.
Diaz expressed his satisfaction with the outcome: “ It was a tough competition, but I’m proud of my performance. I’ve been working tirelessly to improve my technique, and it’s rewarding to see it pay off. I’m already looking forward to the next challenge”. Said Diaz.
Zhu Yaming,on the other side stated that of his future plans to improve: ” I will keep working to push beyond my limits. This experience has taught me a lot, and I’m eager to apply those lessons in upcoming events”.

With Diaz and Zhu reeling on on the erstwhile vastly dominant Zango, this jump competition promises a thrilling spectacle in future.
