Ferdinand Omanyala showcased his sprinting prowess at the 2025 Athletics Kenya National Trials, held on 27th June, by easily winning the second semifinal of the men’s 200m in a time of 21.27 seconds.
The event held at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Nairobi, saw Omanyala secure his place in the finals with a commanding run. Thus reinforcing his status as Kenya’s top sprinter.
On the other hand, Samuel Chege followed closely in second place with a time of 21.58 seconds, while Wambua Muasya finished third in 21.79 seconds.
However, Ferdinand Omanyala’s performance was a highlight of the trials, demonstrating his consistent form this season.

Despite some ups and downs, his performances at the national trials confirm he remains Kenya’s sprint king and a serious contender on the international stage.
However, Ferdinand Omanyala must now focus on sharpening his finishing skills, as he faces the top 200-meter sprinters likely to challenge him.

They include T’Mars McCallum (USA) with a 19.83s best, Letsile Tebogo (Botswana), Kenneth Bednarek (USA), and Noah Lyles (USA).
These athletes consistently run under 20 seconds and rank among the world’s fastest in 2025. Their speed and experience make them strong contenders to give Omanyala a tough race on the global stage. Thus, Ferdinand Omanyala must prepare well to compete against these elite sprinters.
