Davies’ triumph in Ostrava marked a major milestone in what has been a breakout season for the 24-year-old. Earlier this year, she registered personal bests in both the 100m and 200m at the 2024 SEC Championships in Gainesville, Florida, clocking 11.01 seconds and 22.17 seconds respectively.
Representing Liberia at the 2024 African Championships in Douala, Cameroon, Davies played a pivotal role in the women’s 4x100m relay team, helping them secure a bronze medal. She also competed in the 100 metres at the 2024 Paris Olympics, underlining her status as one of the fastest sprinters to ever don Liberian colours.
Her momentum continued into 2025, where she featured at the World Athletics Relays in China in May as part of Liberia’s women’s 4x100m relay team. That same month, she was named as a challenger in the short sprints category at the 2025 Grand Slam Track event in Philadelphia, finishing third in the 100 metres with a time of 11.14 seconds.
Just weeks before her Ostrava triumph, Davies claimed victory in the 200 metres at the 2025 BAUHAUS-galan in Stockholm, a result that signalled her growing confidence and form heading into the European summer circuit.
