Track and field star Gabby Thomas has shown some Olympic love across seasons, naming speed skating champion Erin Jackson as the Winter athlete she’s most excited to watch at next year’s Winter Olympics.

In a post shared on her Instagram story, Thomas responded to a prompt asking fans to name a Team USA Winter athlete they’re most looking forward to seeing at the next Winter Olympics. Her answer: Erin Jackson ,

Who is Erin Jackson ?

Jackson, the trailblazing speed skater made history at the 2022 Beijing Winter Games. She won gold in the 500 meters. She became the first Black woman to win an individual gold medal at the Winter Olympics.

Meanwhile, Gabby Thomas, one of the brightest stars in American sprinting, had a breakthrough performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The 28-year-old claimed three gold medals in the 200m, the 4x100m relay, and the 4x400m relay. She had previously earned silver in the 4x100m and bronze in the 200m at the Tokyo 2021 Games, but her Paris triumph cemented her place among the world’s sprinting elite.

Sharing the post with a smiling emoji, Thomas showed admiration and respect for Jackson. A nod to the growing camaraderie among Team USA athletes across both the Summer and Winter Games.

Jackson isn’t just a token name in the conversation. Her gold medal in Beijing was historical. She proved she belongs among the best, and it’s clear Thomas recognizes that.

With the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina fast approaching, Jackson is a name to watch. The Games, set for February in northern Italy, will mark the first time two cities Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, co-host the Winter edition. The competition will feature events like speed skating, ski jumping, snowboarding, curling, and ice hockey.

Thomas is preparing for the upcoming U.S. Olympic Trials ahead of the World Athletics Championships set for September in Tokyo, where she’s expected to be a top contender once again.
