Andreas Almgren’s winning time not only rewrote the European record books but also obliterated the long-standing meeting record of 12:51.60 set by Kenyan legend Daniel Komen back in 1996.
The performance now sees Andreas Almgren climb to tenth place on the world all-time 5000m list, adding to his growing status as one of Europe’s finest distance runners.
Already the European 10km record-holder with a time of 26:53, Andreas Almgren’s triumph in Stockholm cements his position as a formidable force in global distance running as the build-up to the Paris 2024 Olympics intensifies.
