Just moments after capturing his first NCAA national title, Arkansas sprinter Jordan Anthony  has officially announced that he will forgo the remainder of his collegiate career to turn professional.

The announcement came on Saturday, following his dominant performance at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

Jordan Anthony sprinted to victory in the men’s 100m final, clocking 10.07 seconds from lane nine to claim the national crown. He also competed in the 200m, where he finished fourth in 20.01. He also anchored the Arkansas 4x100m relay team to a bronze medal.

In an emotional farewell message, Anthony expressed gratitude to those who helped shape him on and off the track.

“This moment of reflection and sorrow. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the communities that helped shape me,” he said. “Thank you for accepting me, for welcoming me with open arms. Also for nurturing me through the many seasons of life.”

Anthony, went on to honor his hometown of Tylertown. Also the University of Arkansas, and his family for instilling in him the values of strength, humility, and perseverance.

“With that being said, I will be forgoing my collegiate career and turning pro,” he concluded.

Anthony’s decision marks a new chapter for one of the brightest young sprint stars in American athletics.
