American Long distance runner, Taylor Roe has expressed happiness after competing at the 2025 Mastercard New York Mini 10K on Saturday .

At the prestigious NYRR New York Mini 10K, Roe showcased her prowess, finishing a commendable fourth amidst a formidable international field in Central Park.

Still immersed in the post-race euphoria, Roe,  a two-time national champion who recently broke the women-only 10-mile world record in 49:53. reflected on the significance of the occasion.

“Being like the debut here… I really got to do it,” she shared, her voice tinged with elation. “It’s such a special event, and the energy in New York is unmatched.”

While Roe had previously tested herself over various road distances, this marked her first official 10K on the roads. A moment made all the more memorable by the iconic New York setting. The dynamic course, fervent crowd, and elite competitors combined to create an electrifying atmosphere.

“It was exhilarating. Racing against such accomplished women at different points in their seasons made this experience invaluable, a true learning opportunity.”

Kenya’s Hellen Obiri won in a time of 30:44. Thus, when Olympic champion Obiri executed a decisive surge mid-race, Roe responded instinctively.

“That was the pivotal move,” Roe said. “You either latch onto that surge or you fall behind. I went with it. It didn’t stick today but after that, it was about resilience and maintaining my position.”

Crossing the finish line in fourth place, Roe’s performance bodes well as she sets her sights on the U.S. Olympic Trials in the 10,000 meters.

“Today was a 10K just on a different terrain,” she smiled. “I’m in a solid training phase, and races like this sharpen my competitive edge ahead of the Trials.”

Effort from coach

Taylor Roe also lauded her team and equipment, running in Puma’s cutting-edge Fast-R 3s, and praised the mentorship of coaches Alistair and Amy Cragg, whose guidance has been instrumental in her seamless transition to professional running.

“Having coaches who have excelled at the highest levels, both on track and roads has been invaluable. Their support has made this progression feel attainable and real.”

As she left Central Park, Roe carried with her more than just a race result. She carried a profound sense of belonging and accomplishment. “It was a monumental step. I felt like I truly belonged out there.”
