Australian teenage sprint sensation Gout Gout has opened up about the unique bond he shares with Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles. At just 17 years old, Gout Gout is quickly making a name for himself in the athletics world, earning comparisons to sprinting legend Usain Bolt.
Over the past year, Gout has taken the athletics scene by storm, breaking milestones once held by some of the sport’s greatest figures. His silver medal finish in the 200m at the Under-20 World Championships last year signaled the arrival of a new talent to watch. That success set the stage for an even bigger year in 2025, with Gout recently breaking both the Oceanian and Australian records in the 200m, securing his place at the upcoming senior World Athletics Championships in Tokyo this September.
As his profile continues to soar, Gout has begun rubbing shoulders with the very athletes he idolized as a child — among them, six-time World Champion Noah Lyles. The two sprinters forged a close relationship earlier this year when they trained together for two weeks in Florida.
Speaking to The Mirror, Gout revealed the nickname Lyles has given him, and the playful yet competitive dynamic between the two.
“He calls me ‘Little Bro,’ so we definitely have a great connection,” Gout said.
“Obviously, I gave him a nudge. I said on his podcast earlier this year that I’d be running up his a–, for sure. It’s definitely great. He messages me occasionally and I tell him ‘Congratulations’ and stuff like that. He’s a great guy.”

While the two may share a bond, it hasn’t stopped Lyles from offering guidance to his younger counterpart — advice that could soon prove valuable if they find themselves lining up in the same race. For Gout, the ambition is clear. Gout Gout has openly expressed his ambition to replicate the dominance Usain Bolt showcased during his peak sprinting years.
“The goal is winning the Olympics and winning World Championships. Honestly, dominating like Bolt did. I think that limit is reachable for me,” Gout confidently declared.
Gout Gout eagerly targets the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and the 2032 Brisbane Games, which hold special hometown significance for him.
