Two-time world champion Chase Jackson delivered a jaw-dropping performance at the Shanghai Diamond League, launching a 20.54-meter throw. The American superstar not only secured victory but also set a meeting record and a season-best throw.

Chase faced fierce competition, including Dutch rival Jessica Schilder, who had previously set the world-leading mark (20.47m) in Xiamen just days earlier. However, Schilder had to settle for second place this time with a 19.77m effort, while Sweden’s Fanny Roos claimed third with a 19.66m throw—a new Swedish national record.

After her victory, an elated Jackson reflected on her performance.

“I felt really good tonight. On Tuesday, I had a breakthrough in my training, so I knew I could either throw really far or struggle to maintain that momentum. Thankfully, I held it together, and I’m happy with the result.”

She also credited a technical adjustment for her success.

“I’ve been working on using my left arm more, and I finally felt what I needed to in training. I carried that into the competition, though I got a little too excited and didn’t execute perfectly. I was hoping for a national record, but I know it’s coming soon.”

Jackson’s Shanghai triumph marks another step in her redemption arc after a devastating 2024 Paris Olympics, where she shockingly missed the final. After fouling her first two attempts, she managed only 17.60m on her third throw, finishing 17th.

But the setback only fueled her fire. Just weeks later, Chase roared back at the Lausanne Diamond League, winning with a 20.64m throw.

Jackson has been unstoppable this season, opening with a personal-best series in Nanjing, where she repeatedly surpassed the 20-meter mark. Her explosive power and consistency make her a favorite for this year’s Tokyo World Championships.

Jackson now laser-focuses on claiming a third world title and future Olympic redemption.
