Kenya’s Mary Moraa stormed to victory in the women’s 800 meters at the Grand Slam Track Miami, held at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Florida. Moraa, the reigning World Champion and Olympic bronze medalist, showcased her trademark by delivering a strong and tactical race.  Her finishing speed helped her to pull away from a world-class field in the final stretch, thus securing the win.

Moraa’s victory in Miami adds to her impressive resume, which includes a gold medal from the 2023 World Athletics Championships and a recent world record in the 600 meters. However, competing in the Grand Slam Track league’s inaugural season, Moraa faced tough competition from notable athletes such as American Nikki Hiltz and Australia’s Jessica Hull. Despite the challenge, Moraa controlled the race with tactical precision, surging ahead in the last 200 meters to claim the top spot.
