Kenny Bednarek reaffirmed his edge over Oblique Seville in the men’s 100 meters at the Grand Slam Track series in Miami, clocking a blistering 9.79 seconds with a +2.4 m/s wind. The American overcame a slight stumble out of the blocks, quickly regaining momentum to surge ahead in the final 50 meters.
Meanwhile, Seville, racing on home turf, started strong and pressed Bednarek all the way, but ultimately finished second in 9.84 seconds in one of the fastest races of the season.
The showdown continued a fierce rivalry between the two sprinters, following Bednarek’s photo-finish win over Seville in Kingston earlier in April. Both athletes pushed each other to their limits, with Bednarek’s top-end speed proving decisive once again.
After the race, Bednarek called the win a confidence boost and emphasised his focus on improving his starts, declaring, “A win’s a win.”
Moreover, Seville remains a major threat and looks to avenge the loss in upcoming meets. Ensuring their rivalry stays at the forefront of the sprinting world. Bednarek’s wind-assisted 9.79 signals his readiness for the rest of the season and keeps him in strong contention for the Grand Slam Track’s $100,000 overall prize.
For now, fans can expect more electrifying battles as Bednarek and Seville continue to raise the bar on the global stage.
