Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Dominates 400m Hurdles to Win Grand Slam Track Title

American Star Dominates Day 2 with Commanding Win at Ansin Sports Complex

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone delivered a statement performance on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Grand Slam Track Miami meet. The event took place at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Florida. McLaughlin-Levrone, the reigning Olympic champion and world record holder, won the women’s 400-meter hurdles in 52.07 seconds. Setting the fastest time ,so far, in  2025.

Sydney took control of the race from the start and never looked back, pushing hard to the finish line, leaving Jamaica`s Andrenette Knight trailing. Moreover,  Knight finished second, more than two seconds behind in 54.08. As the drama unfolded, Anna Hall, an American heptathlete, surprised many by taking third place with 54.48 seconds.

Meanwhile, McLaughlin-Levrone’s win in Miami marked her second consecutive victory in the Grand Slam Track series, following her triumph in Kingston, Jamaica, last month. She improved her world-leading time by nearly seven-tenths of a second, having previously run 52.76 in Kingston, Jamaica.

Moreover, Sydney has expressed happiness with her progress in the second race, in her second season.  She stated, that her focus was on her stride pattern between hurdles and that there were still technical aspects to improve.

“For the second race of the year, I’m pretty happy,” she said. “Obviously, there are things to clean up.” She also expressed excitement about competing in the United States and running in front of American fans.

Grand Slam Track Second Leg

The Grand Slam Track series is a new athletics league created by Olympic legend Michael Johnson.

The format requires athletes to compete in two events over three days, with points awarded for each finish. The overall winners receive significant prize money, making every race important for the season standings.

Meanwhile, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone will return to the track on Sunday, May 4, to compete in the women’s 400 meters flat. She is aiming for another win and more points in the series.

The Grand Slam Track Miami meet continues to attract top talent and deliver world-class performances, keeping fans engaged as the season unfolds.
