World and Olympic champion Armand “Mondo” Duplantis has done it again, securing another pole volt commanding victory in Shanghai Diamond League with a meet-record clearance of 6.11m. The Swedish phenom, fresh off his 5.92m win in Xiamen just days ago, delivered another masterclass in pole vaulting, further cementing his status as the sport’s undisputed king.
Mondo Duplantis needed just one attempt to clear 6.11m, leaving the competition in his wake. Greece’s Emmanouil Karalis, the Olympic bronze medalist, put up a strong fight with a 6.01m clearance for second place, while Dutch vaulter Menno Vloon claimed third after battling to clear 5.82m.
Not content with just the win, Duplantis pushed further, taking three attempts at 6.28m—a height that would have extended his own world record of 6.27m, set in Clermont-Ferrand in February.
China has become a lucky charm for Mondo Duplantis, who has produced some of his greatest performances in the country. Last year, he shattered the world record with a 6.24m jump in Xiamen, followed by a 6.00m meet record in Suzhou. This season, he returned as the newly crowned Laureus Sportsman of the Year, proving yet again why he stands above the rest.
Just weeks before this latest victory, Duplantis secured his third world indoor title in Nanjing with a 6.15m clearance, joining legends Sergey Bubka and Renaud Lavillenie in the record books. His consistency is unmatched—he has now cleared 6.00m over 100 times and holds 11 world records, the latest being his 6.27m leap in France earlier this year.
With the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo and the 2026 European Championships looming, Duplantis shows no signs of slowing down.
