Two-time world champion Chase Jackson delivered a stunning performance at the Shanghai Diamond League, unleashing a massive 20.54-meter throw, her best ever outdoors—to claim victory in the women’s shot put.
The American star set a meeting record and a season-best mark, proving she’s back in top form after a second-place finish in the season’s first Diamond League leg.
Jackson faced fierce competition, including Jessica Schilder of the Netherlands, who had previously set a world-leading 20.47m in Xiamen. Schilder took second place in Shanghai with a throw of 19.77m, while Sweden’s Fanny Roos claimed third with a 19.66m effort, a new Swedish national record.
Jackson’s dominant performance in Shanghai continues her impressive comeback after a disappointing 2024 Paris Olympics, where she shockingly failed to qualify for the final. After fouling her first two attempts, she managed only 17.60m on her third throw, finishing 17th and missing the final by a narrow margin.
