Diamond League Monaco: Jessica Schilder Seals Dramatic Final-Round Victory in Women’s Shot Put

Jessica Schilder delivered a sensational final-round performance to claim victory in the women’s Shot Put at the Monaco Diamond League on Friday night. The Dutch star produced a last-gasp effort of 20.39m, snatching the win from Chase Jackson of the United States in a thrilling contest at Stade Louis II.

Jackson, who had led for much of the competition with a best mark of 20.06m, was relegated to second, while Canada’s Sarah Mitton secured third with a throw of 20.00m. Schilder’s winning mark came on her sixth and final attempt, ensuring her a crucial 27 Diamond League points and keeping her firmly in the hunt for the Diamond Trophy.

Schilder’s career continues to flourish. She previously claimed bronze at the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade and gold at the 2022 European Athletics Championships.

In 2024, Jessica Schilder added another European gold medal in Rome and finished sixth at the Paris Olympic Games. Earlier this year, she struck gold at the 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn and secured silver at the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China.

With this win in Monaco, Schilder moves to second place in the Diamond League qualifiers standings with 27 points, behind Chase Jackson’s 30 points. The race for the Diamond Trophy remains wide open heading into the final qualification meeting.
