Jamaica has announced its 32-member team for the World Athletics Indoor Championships, taking place from 20–22 March 2026 in Toruń. At the forefront of the men’s sprint contingent is Kishane Thompson, who enters the championships as one of Jamaica’s most reliable and explosive performers in the 60m sprint and relay events.
The squad blends experienced stars and emerging talent. Alongside Kishane Thompson, the men’s team includes Ackeeme Blake, Bryan Levell, and Kadrain Goldson, while the hurdles squad features Demario Prince, Jerome Campbell, and Vashaun Vascianna. Middle-distance runners Navasky Anderson and Rivaldo Marshall headline the 800m, with 400m competitors Delano Kennedy and Reheem Hayles rounding out the men’s entries. The 4x400m relay team combines experience and youth with Delano Kennedy, Reheem Hayles, Kimar Farquharson, Tyrice Taylor, Rivaldo Marshall, and Demar Francis.
In the women’s squad, elite sprinters Jonielle Smith, Brianna Lyston, and Tina Clayton lead the 60m events, while hurdles specialists Megan Simmonds-Tapper and Oneka Wilson add depth to technical events. Middle-distance runner Natoya Goule-Toppin and 400m athlete Nickisha Pryce provide strength across individual races, with the 4x400m relay squad combining youth and experience: Shanoya Douglas, Natoya Goule-Toppin, Nikishe Pryce, Shana Kaye Anderson, Leah Anderson, and Kelly Ann Beckford.
Coach Garth Smythe highlighted the potential of Jamaica’s emerging athletes, particularly Shanoya Douglas, the World U20 200m bronze medallist. “Shanoya has the ability to challenge the national junior record this season,” Smythe said. “Her explosive starts and top-end speed could see her running as fast as 10.8 seconds in the 100 metres. She’s a tremendous talent, and it’s exciting to see her develop alongside our seasoned athletes like Kishane Thompson.”
For Kishane Thompson, the championships offer an opportunity to anchor Jamaica’s sprint team and provide leadership on the international stage. His strong indoor form and consistency in the 60m and relay events make him a key figure, while teammates Ackeeme Blake and Shanoya Douglas provide youthful speed and energy that could translate into record-breaking performances.
Shanoya Douglas has been in excellent form during national trials, demonstrating her capacity to excel indoors over the 60m and 200m. Ackeeme Blake, meanwhile, adds depth to Jamaica’s sprinting roster, bringing explosive acceleration and technical precision to the men’s 60m events and the relay squads. Together with Kishane Thompson, the trio represents a balance of experience and emerging talent for Jamaica.
The indoor championships in Toruń will challenge athletes with tighter bends, shorter straights, and high-intensity sprint transitions. Jamaica’s coaching staff has prepared the team with specific indoor strategies for both individual events and relays, ensuring athletes maximize their competitive edge.
Fans will be watching closely as Kishane Thompson leads the men’s team, with Shanoya Douglas and Ackeeme Blake also poised to make their mark. Jamaica aims to demonstrate its sprinting prowess across multiple events, combining proven talent with the next generation of stars on the global indoor stage.
