Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo continued his dominance in the senior men’s category, winning the World Athletics Cross Country Championships Tallahassee 26 for the third consecutive edition on Saturday.
Ethiopia’s Berihu Aregawi once again had to settle for silver individually, while Kenya’s Daniel Ebenyo claimed bronze behind him.

The race unfolded with USA’s Wesley Kiptoo setting an early blistering pace, clocking 5:39 for the opening lap, only to be reeled in by the leading pack, which included Kiplimo, Ebenyo, and Aregawi. As the race progressed, Kiplimo remained patient, tracking the leaders before taking command at 6km.
By the bell lap, only Kiplimo, Aregawi, and Ebenyo remained in contention. Kiplimo’s final surge proved unstoppable, giving him the largest winning margin in the senior men’s race since 2007.
Kiplimo crossed the line in 28:18, joining an elite group of athletes, John Ngugi, Paul Tergat, and Kenenisa Bekele, who have won three consecutive world cross-country titles. Aregawi finished in 28:36 for his fifth global silver, while Ebenyo’s bronze in 28:45 added another major achievement to his career.
Uganda celebrated its best ever World Cross Country Championships medal haul, claiming seven medals, including two golds.
