Botswana’s rising sprint star, Letsile Tebogo, has resumed full training as he sets his sights on the 2026 athletics season. Tebogo is hoping to capitalise on his recent breakthroughs and strengthen his position on the global stage.

The 21-year-old sprinter from Botswana is widely regarded as one of Africa’s fastest athletes. Tebogo broke onto the international scene with record-breaking performances in 2022, becoming the first sub-10-second sprinter from Botswana and one of the continent’s premier prospects in the 100m and 200m events.

Now Tebogo is back in intense training after a brief off-season hiatus, focusing on improving his speed, stamina, and race strategy, amid multiple major events in 2026, including the World Athletics Championships and the Commonwealth Games.

In his X account, Letsile Tebogo wrote, ” Lactic acid is now my middle name. Day 1 complete, and every muscle is complaining. But the foundation is laid. Back for more.”

The rigorous program is designed to sharpen his form and enhance his physical resilience.

Meanwhile, LetsileTebogo is training at the National Sports Institute in Botswana’s capital, Gaborone, under the watchful eyes of coach Justice Dipeba. The facility offers advanced training amenities, which Tebogo has leveraged in his rapid rise. Part of his regimen will include training camps abroad, anticipated to take place in Europe and the United States, to expose him to elite competition and access to top-notch conditioning resources.

Preparation for the upcoming season began in early November 2025, following a period of rest and recovery after his 2025 competitive season concluded in September. His coach notes this early start is critical, given Tebogo’s ambition to peak in mid-2026, targeting the key championship dates from July onwards.

Moreover, Letsile Tebogo’s return to serious training is driven by his desire to improve on his personal bests and expand his medal tally on the global stage. Last season saw significant improvements and podium finishes, but with the International athletics calendar increasingly competitive, Tebogo’s team believes that early and disciplined preparation will set him apart.

Letsile Tebogo`s continued success is also set to inspire a new generation of sprinters across the continent. In addition, his progress will be closely watched by sports analysts and fans worldwide as he aims to solidify his place among the world’s sprint elite in 2026.
