With this win, Kipyegon becomes the first woman ever to collect four world titles in a distance-running event. Her compatriot Dorcus Ewoi claimed silver in a personal best of 3:54.92, while Australia’s Jessica Hull earned bronze in 3:55.16.
Kipyegon’s victory extends her unbeaten streak in the 1500m to 22 consecutive races across four years, during which she has rewritten the world record books three times (2023, 2024, and 2025).

Her Tokyo campaign isn’t over yet. On Saturday, she will line up for a blockbuster showdown in the 5000m against compatriot Beatrice Chebet, the reigning Olympic and world champion in the 10,000m. Kipyegon claimed the 5000m crown at the 2023 World Championships, but Chebet snatched Olympic gold in the event last year.
