New York Marathon: Eliud Kipchoge Slams Gauntlet at defending champion

Two-time Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge and reigning Olympic marathon champion Sifan Hassan are set to headline the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday 2 November 2025, joining fellow Global Sports Communication athlete and defending men’s champion Abdi Nageeye in a star-studded field.

Kipchoge, the most decorated marathon runner in history with two Olympic titles and 11 Abbott World Marathon Majors titles, will make his long-awaited New York debut, completing his set of appearances across all seven global Majors.

The thought of running in New York has always lived in my heart,” Kipchoge said. “I am looking forward to experiencing it all, to hearing the crowds, to meeting the people there, and leaving a long-lasting footprint in the running community.

Hassan, already a three-time Abbott World Marathon Majors winner thanks to her triumphs in London, Chicago, and most recently Sydney, will also make her New York debut. She will look to add another prestigious title to her growing résumé.

“They say it’s the biggest race in the world,” Hassan said. “I love marathons because anything can happen, especially in New York, I am super excited for it!”

Together, the legendary pair join defending men’s champion Abdi Nageeye, ensuring that the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon will once again feature one of the most exciting line-ups in the event’s history.
