Diamond League Zurich: Jacory Patterson Sets Personal Best to Win Men’s 400m

American sprinter Jacory Patterson capped off a remarkable season with a blistering run at the Diamond League final in Zurich, storming to victory in the men’s 400m in a lifetime best of 43.85 seconds.

Patterson’s commanding run saw him finish well clear of Botswana’s Bayapo Ndori, who claimed second place in 44.40 seconds. Fellow American Vernon Norwood secured third in 44.45 seconds, just ahead of Zambia’s Muzala Samukonga, who crossed the line in 44.49 seconds.

The Zurich victory adds to an impressive list of achievements for Patterson in 2025. Earlier this year, he won a bronze medal at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in the individual 400m, finishing behind compatriots Brian Faust and Chris Bailey. He later teamed up with Bailey and Elija Godwin to capture gold in the men’s 4x400m relay at the same championships.

In May, Patterson clocked 43.98 seconds at the Grand Slam Track event in Miami, marking his first sub-44 performance. He then claimed the 400m title at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in June, defeating Bailey and Khaleb McRae with a time of 44.16 seconds to book his spot at the World Athletics Championships.
