Diamond League Silesia: Beatrice Chebet Stumbles as Gudaf Tsegay Dominates Women’s 1500m with Meeting Record

Gudaf Tsegay produced a blistering display to win the women’s 1500m at the Silesia Diamond League on Saturday, storming away from the field to clock a new meeting record of 3:50.62.

The Ethiopian star, who had been outclassed by Beatrice Chebet in their previous encounters this season, ran a tactically perfect race, staying with the leading pack in the opening lap before launching a decisive surge on the second.

The Ethiopian’s devastating kick in the final lap left Chebet trailing, despite the Kenyan clocking a personal best in second place.

Great Britain’s Georgia Bell took third, but the night belonged to Tsegay, whose dominant win sets the stage for a highly anticipated rematch at the World Championships in Tokyo next month.
