Jamaica’s Oblique Seville stunned a star-studded field to win the men’s 100m at the London Diamond League on Saturday, marking his Diamond League debut with a blazing 9.86 seconds in front of a packed London Stadium.
Seville, who has twice finished fourth at the World Championships, seized control of the race from the gun, holding off a charging Noah Lyles, who had a poor start but battled back to finish second in 10.00 seconds. British sprint star Zharnel Hughes claimed third in 10.02 seconds, as the crowd of over 60,000 roared for one of the day’s most anticipated events.
Full results from the men’s 100m final:

Seville’s performance underlined his rising status as one of the top contenders for the World Championships in Tokyo later this year. The Jamaican’s start was explosive, and he maintained composure even as Lyles began closing in during the final 20 meters. Despite not running his fastest time of the year, Seville’s 9.86 came against a strong field and in slightly negative wind conditions of -0.6 m/s.
Lyles, making his season debut over 100m after recovering from an ankle tendon issue, had been aiming to fine-tune his form ahead of his triple-gold mission in Tokyo.
The race also featured top names like Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo and South Africa’s Akani Simbine, who currently leads the Diamond League 100m standings with 28 points. Kishane Thompson, the world leader in 2025 with a 9.75, was present but did not race individually, focusing instead on Jamaica’s relay efforts.
Seville’s breakthrough win not only shook up the Diamond League rankings but also firmly placed him in the conversation for global sprint dominance heading into the late-season championship battles.
