Olympic 800m gold medalist Keely Hodgkinson is officially on the start list for this year’s all-female Athlos New York City event, scheduled for 10 October.
The British middle-distance star becomes one of the headline names at the second edition of the competition, which is quickly gaining traction as one of the sport’s most progressive showcases.
Hodgkinson, who hasn’t competed since winning gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics, has been sidelined for much of the season due to a hamstring tear she sustained in February.
The injury has ruled her out of this weekend’s London Diamond League meet, but her return at Athlos signals a major comeback moment for the 23-year-old.
Athlos, a trailblazing project backed by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian’s venture capital firm Seven Seven Six, aims to reimagine the presentation and business model of women’s track and field. Last year’s winners walked away with $60,000, a prize purse among the highest in the sport, underscoring the event’s commitment to athlete compensation and visibility.
Joining Hodgkinson on the track will be a star-studded line-up including British 400m record holder Amber Anning, who impressed in Paris with two relay bronze medals and followed up with an individual world indoor title earlier this year. American 200m Olympic champion Gabby Thomas also headlines the sprint events, further deepening the field’s quality.

The 2025 edition of Athlos will expand beyond the track for the first time, adding long jump to its programme. That event will feature none other than U.S. Olympic champion Tara Davis-Woodhall, signaling Athlos’ intent to diversify its offering while maintaining elite-level performances across disciplines.
Ohanian, who also made headlines earlier this year after purchasing an 8–10% stake in Chelsea Women, continues to make significant strides in the women’s sports investment space. His involvement with Athlos, paired with the event’s rapidly growing reputation, positions the NYC meet as a must-watch on the fall athletics calendar.
As anticipation builds, all eyes will be on Keely Hodgkinson and her highly anticipated return to competition, one that could reignite her dominance and set the tone for the 2025 indoor season.
