Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone may be one of the brightest stars in track and field, but behind the Olympic gold medals and record-breaking performances lies a personal story.
And now, with her husband Andre Levrone by her side, the 24-year-old hurdler is plotting a bold, new chapter.
In a recent episode of the Ready Set Go podcast, Sydney opened up about her complicated relationship with social media and the pressures of public scrutiny.
As a teenage prodigy preparing for her Olympic debut, the relentless expectations and constant digital commentary quickly turned overwhelming. What was once a space for connection gradually became a source of anxiety.
“The more you’re on social media, the more you give yourself to the world, the more susceptible you are to what that brings,” Sydney reflected.
But after a particularly negative experience during a live stream, she abruptly cut off that level of access.
“I stopped the lives because someone literally panned me on live one day,” she said. “That’s when I decided—‘Okay, you guys took this privilege away; we’re done.’”
While many of her peers leaned into the spotlight, she chose to retreat, prioritizing mental wellness and personal boundaries over internet approval. Yet, despite her cautious stance, something seems to be shifting.
During the podcast chat with hosts Rodney Green and Justin Gatlin, Sydney hinted at exciting possibilities ahead. In a more relaxed and upbeat moment, she revealed that alongside Andre, she’s considering a thoughtful return to social media—but this time, on her terms.
“Me and my husband have talked quite a bit about this,” she shared.
The new plan leans toward curated content, clear boundaries, and a healthier relationship with the public eye, fitting for an athlete who’s learned the importance of protecting her peace while inspiring others.
As Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone prepares for the next chapter of her career, both on and off the track, this bold future isn’t just about faster times or more medals.
It’s about owning her story, defining her narrative, and walking into the digital space with confidence and control, hand in hand with the person she trusts most.
