Masai Russell Reacts to Monaco Diamond League Entry

American hurdler Masai Russell has responded with excitement after final entries for the Monaco Diamond League, scheduled for Friday, July 11, were released.

The event will feature a blockbuster women’s 100m hurdles lineup, packed with world-class talent. Taking to her Instagram Stories shortly after the announcement, Russell reposted with the caption:

“New drop. Super proud of this one!”

Among the top names that Russel will face in Monaco include; Grace Stark, who recently ran 12.21s at the Paris Meeting,Devyne Charlton, double World Indoor Champion. Dutch star, Nadine Visser, consistent indoor podium finisher, Ditaji Kambundji, 2024 European silver medallist and Giada Carmassi, new Italian record holder (12.69s)

Russell, who is coming off a phenomenal season, is one of the favorites. She broke the American record earlier this year at the Grand Slam Track Meet in Miami. She clocked 12.17 seconds, the second-fastest time in world history. That was just 0.05 seconds shy of Tobi Amusan’s world record (12.12).

She won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics and has continued her momentum in 2025, kicking off the year at the Rod McCravy Memorial in Texas. There, she won the 60m hurdles and ran in the 4x400m relay to warm up for outdoor season battles.

In May, she raced at the Grand Slam Track’s Kingston leg to open her outdoor sesason. She finished fifth in 12.70 seconds under challenging wind conditions.

Her most recent competition came at the Racers Grand Prix on June 7 in Jamaica, where she lined up again alongside stars like Tobi Amusan.

Before Monaco, Russell will headline the 2025 Prefontaine Classic on Saturday, July 5. An event already buzzing with anticipation. She’ll go head-to-head with both Tobi Amusan and Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, in what’s being billed as one of the most highly anticipated clashes of the season.
