Loice Chemining of Kenya Prisons Services delivered a commanding performance to win the women’s 10,000m title at the Kenya(AK) National Athletics Championships held at the Ulinzi Complex on Day One.

Loice Chemining clocked a swift 31:39.09, outpacing a competitive field that included KDF’s Cintia Chepngeno, who took silver in 32:22.44, and Rebecca Mwangi of Kenya Prisons, who grabbed bronze with 32:22.85.

Her victory at the AK Championships marks a significant milestone in her current form, signalling her readiness and determination as the athletics season intensifies.

Over the past year, she has consistently posted strong performances in national and regional races, solidifying her reputation as one of Kenya’s top long-distance runners. Her recent win at the Ulinzi Complex underscores her endurance and tactical prowess, both critical attributes for success on the international stage.

As the World Championships in Tokyo approach, Chemining’s impressive form positions her as a strong contender for selection to Kenya’s national team.

The Kenyan Athletics Federation will consider her recent performances, including this dominant showing at the AK Championships, when finalising the squad for the women’s 10,000m event. Given Loice Chemining’s current trajectory and competitive times, many anticipate that she will secure a spot on the team, representing Kenya among the world’s elite distance runners.
