American sprint star Kenny Bednarek has heaped praise on the Grand Slam Track (GST) series after a standout season that saw him crowned Racer of the Year, setting a personal best in the 100m and claiming dominant victories across the league.
Taking it to his social media accounts, Bednarek described GST as a refreshing experience that truly put athletes first, both on and off the track.
“Grand Slam Track gave me something I’ve never experienced before in this sport. A league that truly felt like it was built for athletes like me,” he wrote. “From the moment I arrived down in Jamaica, to Miami, to Philly, I was treated like a professional in every sense.”
Kenny’s Dominance
Bednarek finished the season with 72 points, the highest in the league. That was three wins in both the 100m and 200m sprints. He was named Racer of the Year following the final meet in Philadelphia, after the fourth and final leg of the series, originally scheduled for Los Angeles was cancelled.
Despite the shortened schedule, Bednarek said the experience left a lasting impression.
“I walked away from this season not just with wins and awards, but with something bigger. The atmosphere, the drip checks, the competition. It reminded me of why I love this sport.”
He also credited the GST team, led by Olympic legend Michael Johnson. That is , for creating a league that allowed athletes to shine beyond just the stopwatch.
“You gave me the stage,” Bednarek noted, “and I made sure to show up and dominate.”
With the season now complete, Kenny Bednarek says he’s looking forward to what GST brings next year.
“This season was just the beginning of a new era of track and field. I’m excited to see where it will take me.”
