He edged out Canada’s Dylan Beard, who also set a lifetime best of 13.02 to take second, in a thrilling finish that came down to the final strides at Stade Charléty. Meanwhile, reigning world champion Grant Holloway, who was making his much-anticipated return to competition, could only manage fifth place in 13.11 seconds.

The win, marked the third time in Cunningham’s career that he’s stopped the clock at exactly 13.00 seconds, just brushing against the sub-13 barrier that continues to elude him. Still, it was a statement victory over a strong field, including Dylan Beard, who not only ran a 13.08 personal best in the heats but improved it again with 13.02 in the final.
For Grant Holloway, it was another frustrating outing. Though he clocked a season’s best 13.11, the reigning world champion could only settle for fifth . The result that underscores his ongoing mid-season struggles.
It was a particularly symbolic stage for Holloway, who won Olympic gold in Paris last August, but he couldn’t summon the same magic this time.
Jason Joseph (SUI) continued his rise, equaling the Swiss national record with 13.07 in third, while Japan’s Olympic finalist Rachid Muratake ran 13.08 for fourth. Meanwhile, Bryce Hoppel endured another nightmare showing in Paris, just days after a similarly disappointing run in Stockholm.
