Jazmine Sawyers Vows to Break Rankings, Fight Her Way Into Diamond League

British long jump star Jazmin Sawyers has revealed she is doing everything possible to re-enter the World Rankings and earn a spot in the prestigious Diamond League circuit.

In a candid Instagram story, Sawyers responded to a fan who asked when she would be seen competing in the Diamond League.
Most questions in my DMs are like that,” she said. “I’d love to have an answer for you. Most Diamond League entries are by selection and you usually need a world ranking. At the moment, I don’t have one. I might get one after Madrid — that’s the European Athletics Team Championships. I’ll let you know when I’m in it. Trust me, I’m doing my best. I’ll have to prove myself.”

The 2025 European Athletics Team Championships (ETC), scheduled for June 26–29 in Madrid, Spain, will mark Sawyers’ return to Team GB colours for the first time since the 2023 World Championships in Budapest. It also follows her recovery from a torn Achilles that sidelined her throughout the 2024 season.

The ETC will bring together elite athletes from 12 of Europe’s top nations across 37 disciplines, from sprints and jumps to throws, distance races, and relays. Sawyers’ participation in Madrid will be key as she looks to establish a world ranking and get back onto the Diamond League stage.

Kuortane Games

Before Madrid, she is also expected to compete at the Kuortane Games in Finland on June 21. A competition known for attracting top-tier international talent.

Jazmin Sawyers is no stranger to success. She clinched her first major international title at the 2023 European Indoor Championships in Istanbul.

The 2025 Wanda Diamond League season, began in Xiamen on April 20. It is now heading for its eighth stop in Paris. It offers a stage where only the best-ranked athletes feature. For Sawyers, breaking into that league remains the next big mission.
