Noah Lyles Fires Back at Tyreek Hill in Speed Showdown

World 100m champion Noah Lyles has responded to NFL star Tyreek Hill after the Miami Dolphins wide receiver reignited talk of a potential race between the two.

On Saturday, Lyles posted a striking image on social media. It was a side-by-side photo of both men sprinting at full speed with a caption that sent the sports world buzzing. “Noah can run 10.15 in his first gear turtle Tyreek,” he wrote, taking a direct jab at Hill’s recent performance.

Hill`s Personal Best

Hill, a former track athlete turned NFL standout, clocked a personal best of 10.15 seconds in the 100 meters at the Last Chance Sprint Series in Sherman Oaks, California. It was his first race over the distance since 2014 and the fastest time among the 91 sprinters in the heats.

After the race, Hill confidently stated, “Noah could never,” mimicking Lyles’ own post-race message from earlier this year. In February, after winning the 60m at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, Lyles had held up a bib that read “Tyreek could never” ,a playful but pointed challenge.

The back-and-forth between the two stars has reignited interest in a potential head-to-head showdown, especially with the U.S. Outdoor Championships approaching in July.

Hill’s 10.15 is impressive, particularly at age 31 and nearly a decade away from competitive track. However, it still falls short of Lyles’ resume. The reigning world champion has run as fast as 9.83 seconds, winning the 2023 world title. Furthermore , he captured Olympic bronze in 2021. His career-best is 9.79, clocked at the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo.

Noah Lyles hasn’t run slower than 10.15 in a competitive 100m race since April 2022, and he clocked that time as a teenager in 2015.

Though Hill’s performance speaks volumes about the raw speed of NFL athletes, Lyles made it clear he sees no real contest between them on the track. The big question now remains, “Who will be humbled?”
