At the Oslo Diamond League press briefing today, Alison Dos Santos emphasized the importance of his race start rather than focusing on any advantage over his rivals.

The Brazilian hurdler, known for his explosive speed and technical prowess, remains focused on refining his performance in the crucial first meters of the race.

Moreover, Alison acknowledged that while competition is fierce, his primary goal is to perfect his technique and execution.

However, Dos Santos has a hard task ahead as he faces stiff competition from several top athletes this season. Among his main rivals is American hurdler Grant Holloway.

In recent meets, Holloway has consistently posted fast times and remains a formidable contender. Another key competitor is France’s Pascal Martinot-Lagarde, known for his smooth hurdling style and tactical racing.

Additionally, emerging talents like Norway’s own Karsten Warholm, who has been in excellent form recently, add to the depth of the field. Despite this strong lineup, Dos Santos remains grounded and focused on his progress.

Currently, Dos Santos is in solid form, having posted competitive times in recent meets. His training has emphasized improving his start and acceleration, which he believes are critical to gaining an early edge in races.

“I don’t think I have a clear advantage over my rivals right now,” Dos Santos said during the briefing. “My focus is on making sure I’m doing well in the first meters. That’s where the race is often decided,” he added.

This approach reflects Dos Santos’ maturity as an athlete, showing that he understands the importance of consistency and technical precision over relying solely on natural talent or past successes.
