Marco AROP continued his reign over the 800m event with a commanding performance at the 2025 Grand Slam Track meet in Philadelphia, storming to victory in a Championship Record time of 1:43.38.
The Canadian Olympic silver medalist, who had already claimed wins in Kingston and Miami, controlled the race from gun to tape. Arop showcased his signature poise and devastating finishing speed. He kept his unbeaten streak alive in this year’s Grand Slam Track series.
American Josh Hoey, racing against Arop outdoors for the first time, ran a gutsy race to finish second in 1:44.41. Hoey, who narrowly missed the U.S. Olympic team in 2024, has since emerged as a rising force in the event. Over the winter, he clocked the second-fastest indoor 800m in history and captured the world indoor title.
Yared Nuguse, better known for his exploits over 1500m, impressed with a third-place finish in 1:45.36, edging out a deep and competitive field.
