Brazilian hurdler Alison dos Santos continued his dominant form by securing victory in the men’s 400-meter hurdles at the Grand Slam Track meet in Philadelphia on Saturday.
Clocking 48.11 seconds, dos Santos maintained his undefeated record in the 2025 Grand Slam series, marking his fifth consecutive win .
The 24-year-old athlete, standing at 6’7″, has been a formidable presence on the track. Ever since his breakout performance at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where he earned a bronze medal. He went on to claim gold at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, setting a South American record of 46.29 seconds in the process . Dos Santos’s journey to the top has been marked by resilience; as an infant, he suffered severe burns in a domestic accident, leading to visible scars that he carries to this day .
In Philadelphia, dos Santos faced stiff competition from American Trevor Bassitt, who finished second with a time of 48.25 seconds. Fellow American Chris Robinson, took third in 48.76 seconds. The race further solidified dos Santos’s position as a leading figure in the 400m hurdles, showcasing his consistent performance and competitive edge.
