Olympic champion Ethan Katzberg maintained his dominance in the men’s hammer throw, winning with a world-leading mark at the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi.
The 22-year-old Canadian star delivered a powerful throw of 82.73m to secure the top spot, adding yet another accolade to his already remarkable season.
Katzberg, who stunned the world with an 84.12m Olympic gold throw, entered the Nairobi meet expecting big after 81.22m.
Croatian Matija Greguric took second place with a personal best throw of 76.68m, and Daniel Raba managed a season beast of 75.93m for third.
Katzberg made history in Paris by becoming the first Canadian to win an Olympic hammer throw title and the youngest man ever to hold both the Olympic and world titles, following his triumph at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest.
At last year’s Kip Keino Classic, Katzberg thrilled the Nairobi crowd with a stunning 84.38m throw, a mark that propelled him to ninth on the all-time world list.
Africa’s top contender, Mostafa El Gamel of Egypt, a three-time African champion, four-time African Games winner, and African record-holder, finished seventh with a distance of 68.28m.
As the season heats up, Katzberg remains a dominant force in men’s hammer throw, with fans and rivals alike eagerly anticipating his next outing.
