The Gotzis Hypomeeting, one of the world’s premier combined events competitions, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in spectacular style. Thanks to the generous support of Erich Teigamagi and Peeter Tiitson. The Museum of World Athletics (MOWA) is bringing the rich history of this iconic event to life with captivating heritage displays both in downtown Gotzis and at the legendary Mosle Stadium.
In the heart of Gotzis, the Portierhaus hosts a month-long exhibition, while the streets come alive with a historical timeline during the competition week, immersing visitors in five decades of unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, at the Mosle Stadium, a two-day pop-up exhibition showcases rare artefacts from multi-event legends like Fanny Blankers-Koen, Denise Lewis, and Carolina Kluft, alongside historic memorabilia from Olympic champions Ashton Eaton and Brianne Theisen-Eaton.
The celebration doesn’t stop there. Fans will get a rare glimpse of never-before-seen materials from decathlon world record breakers Daley Thompson and Roman Sebrle, plus original documents from Jackie Joyner-Kersee’s iconic 1988 heptathlon world record.
The exhibition also features the official application forms and gear linked to current world record holders Kevin Mayer and Austra Skujyte.
To cap off the festivities, MOWA offers a limited-edition postcard celebrating the current Mosle Stadium record-holders, a perfect keepsake for fans marking this golden milestone.
Recognised for its world-class competition and welcoming atmosphere, the Gotzis Hypomeeting continues to shine as a jewel in the World Athletics Combined Events Tour and proudly holds the prestigious World Athletics Heritage Plaque.
This 50th anniversary celebration honours the past, inspires the present, and sets the stage for future legends to emerge. There`s no doubt that it is a celebration like no other; it is a celebration that sets a precedent for the future of the Gotzis Hypomeeting.
