American sprint star Trayvon Bromell is set to headline the 100m event at the 2025 Rome  Diamond League, also known as the Golden Gala, scheduled for June 6 in Italy’s capital.

This confirmation comes just days after Bromell opened his season. He stunned a sensational 9.91-second performance at the Pure Athletics Global Invitational. That was his fastest time in three years.

The 28-year-old’s return to form has reignited conversations around his potential to challenge for global titles. This comes after a series of injuries had derailed his career. His 9.91 not only marks his quickest outing since 2022 but also sits just 0.01 seconds shy of the world lead currently held by South Africa’s Akani Simbine.

Men`s 100m Line Up

Bromell will line up in a stacked 100m field in Rome that includes Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala. American teammate Fred Kerley, Courtney Lindsey, and Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme will also be in the line up.

Bromell’s resurgence is particularly significant given the adversity he has faced. Once hailed as the future of American sprinting, Bromell won bronze at the 2015 World Athletics Championships. It was in a legendary final that featured Justin Gatlin, Asafa Powell, and Tyson Gay. However, multiple Achilles injuries and surgeries forced him into lengthy absences, prompting many to count him out.

Now, with a new mindset and renewed physical health, Bromell is not just chasing fast times. He’s building a legacy. His personal best stands at 9.76 seconds, set at the 2021 Absa Kip Keino Classic. He has already set his sights on the 2025 World Championships and a potential appearance at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

Yet, in a recent interview on the Journey to Gold podcast, Bromell made it clear that while sprinting is his craft, family is his ultimate priority.

“If I’m in good health and I can get to LA28, I will be running at LA28,” he said. “But I want to start a family, and I’m a big family person because I didn’t have family. I know if I have a child, track ain’t gonna mean nothing to me.”

With renewed speed, sharp focus, and deeper purpose, Bromell’s return to the global stage is more than just a comeback—it’s a statement.
