Massimo Stano smashes world 35km race walk record in Podebrady

At the European Race Walking Team Championships in Podebrady, Italy’s Massimo Stano delivered a remarkable performance that captured the attention of the athletics world. Massimo Stano finished the race in an impressive time of 2:20:43, Smashing Canadian Evan Dunfee’s previous world record by 57 seconds.

Similarly, Evan  Dunfee set his mark at 2:21:40 in March 2025. Before Dunfee, Japan’s Masatora Kawano held the record with 2:21:47, set last October. This shows how competitive and fast the 35km race walk has become recently.

During the race, Massimo Stano took the lead at the 23km point. After taking the lead, he pushed hard to increase his pace. In the final stages, he consistently completed laps in under four minutes. However, this strong finish helped him build a comfortable lead and secure the record.
